      So when your kids do science or engineering projects inspired by books, they’re gaining more than if you did these two subjects separately. Plus, kids love Pete the Cat engineering and Giraffes Can’t Dance challenges!! Here are a few of my favorite book inspired STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, & math) projects for kids. Our definition of art is outdated: we still believe art and science are two entirely separate cultures whose ideas rarely intersect. Now, in the 21st century, it’s time to revisit that thinking.

    Both are born of observing and attempting to explain the world around us, both require discipline and imagination. Art inspires science and science inspires art.
